CarbonQuota: A Partnership With Commitment to Cutting Carbon

Being from Yorkshire, The Sign Group™ likes to get things done proper. How we tackle reducing our carbon footprint and becoming more energy efficient is no different, so we got some real experts in to tell us where and how we can do things better…

At The Sign Group™, we are taking leaps and bounds towards a more environmentally conscious future, some of which we flagged in our previous blog about the new air conditioning system and a second skin of windows. On top of this, we're chuffed to share some info about our partnership with CarbonQuota.

CarbonQuota is a well-respected carbon footprint assessment and reduction expert, this partnership will show The Sign Group™'s dedication to pushing boundaries, commitment to change, and embracing sustainability.

Our journey towards achieving net-zero emissions led us to conduct a thorough Scope 1 and 2 carbon footprint assessment, independently verified by CarbonQuota. The results are in, and for the reporting year 2021/22, our carbon footprint stood at 36 tonnes CO2e.

36 tonnes? So what does that mean in the real world? Well, this would be the equivalent of 24 Hippos (a species that used to knock about by Armley Gyratory around 11,500 years ago). Averaging out at about 2 Hippos worth of CO2e a month, it’s not too shabby for a busy bunch like us lot.

Our dedication to using 100% renewable electricity meant that every time we put t’ kettle on, it made zero contribution to this footprint.

After having a gander at our operational carbon impact, we have a solid starting point to explore and invest in environmentally conscious alternatives. The report also gives a ranked list of initiatives focused on energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint, offering us a clear roadmap for our sustainability journey. It lays out annual reduction targets we can meet to fulfil our goal of achieving net-zero status.
